Flores is a beautiful scenic country as yet unspoilt by tourism where
you can have a real experience with the people and their culture.

We booked through www.gotokomodo.com who organised the whole trip for
us. They are well organised, very professional and the price was great
value. We were a family of 5 adults and they organised our
accommodation, transport, tours, meals and entertainment.

We took 10 days to wind our way through the countryside. The roads are
very windy but our driver Eddy took it slow and safe to ensure a
comfortable ride. We had the best guide on Flores, Hendrik, who made
the journey not only enjoyable but educational. We stopped at many
cultural places and everything was explained clearly. He has a great
sense of humour and was fun to travel with. His English is good which
was great because we don’t speak Indonesian, although we tried to
learn a bit as we travelled.

We would highly recommend gotokomodo tours organise your holiday and
get to see the real Flores.

“Fantastic snorkelling with Hendrik at Pink Beach”

We had a day on Komodo Island when we visited on a cruise ship and
booked a guide and boat to take us out to Pink Beach for snorkelling.
We booked through GotoKomodo Tours (gotokomodo.com) and Hendrik was
there to meet us at the Jetty with his boat and crew. (He had come
across with his boat from Flores the night before so that he could be
there on time to meet us. When I booked from Australia, his emails
were very prompt and efficient and he gave me all the information I
needed.

We were a group of 14 adults and kids and Hendrik was great with all
of us, particularly the kids. On the way out to Pink Beach he gave us
a lot of information about Komodo and Flores, and told us about his
lifestyle on the island. He supplied all the snorkel equipment and
anchored just off Pink Beach so that we could jump into the sea from
the boat, and swim to shore if we wanted.

The snorkelling was brilliant, calm clear waters with lots of coral
and colourful fish. Hendrik and his team had a wonderful feast
prepared for us when we got back onto the boat with fresh ingredients
and local fruits, as well as water and the local coffee. He said that
for the day we were part of his family, and he is the loveliest man.

Once we got back to the cruise ship jetty he organised for some of us
to go on a short trek to see the Komodo dragons, for a small fee. All
in all, a fantastic day, well worth the cost, and I would highly
recommend Hendrik.

In July 2013 we went on the Flores Overland Rinca 8 Days/ 7 nights
tour with Hendrick ( Http// www.gotokomodo.com) The organization was
perfect, Hendrick answered all our questions/e-mails immediately, no
matter what time of the day it was. He even helped us with booking our
flights from Denpasar to Maumere (as we do not have an Indonisian
credit card, it seemed to be very difficult to buy tickets while being
in Germany). The tour was very interesting, although it was a lot of
driving every day (indeed you would need a bit more time for this long
distance and for the beautiful nature). We did have a very good and
careful driver, and Hendrick did organise everything very well. Due to
his good knowledge of his island and the country we learned a lot
about history and life on Flores.

One of the highlights of our tour was the invitation to a ceremony at
a local village. Hendrick and we had been invited by a friend and his
family to join the inauguration of the new “town hall”. The young men
of the village did an original fight dance, and in the end the village
offered a bull and a pig. It was an authentic experience for us, far
away from all touristic attractions. And we really appreciated that we
were allowed to join this ceremony.

The last two days of the trip we went to the islands Rinca and Komodo
in order to see the Warans (dragons!).

Although it was mating season – when the animals rather hide in the
forest – we did see some warans and had interesting walks on these
beautiful islands.

The boat trip was good fun too, although our cabin was very small
(dont bring too much luggage on the boat – leave the rest at your
hotel). We did have our own cook who prepared wonderful meals, and the
entire crew took good care of us.

Dear Henrick, we would like to thank you again for this wonderful
trip. We can highly recommend you and your team to everybody who wants
to got to Komodo and Flores.
